The quantities of grain collected up to July 11 have reached 7.22 million quintals, up 1.2 million quintals compared to the same period of last year, of which 5.23 million quintals of durum wheat (72.4%), 0.61 million quintals of wheat and 1.38 million quintals of barley (19.1%).
The governorates of Béja and Bizerte are at the top of the cereal crop, according to a statement issued Tuesday by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.
The quantities collected in the governorate of Béja reached 1.84 million quintals, i.e. 25.4% of the national average and 1.23 million quintals in the governorate of Bizerte (17.2%).
The collection operation is continuing and advancing at a normal pace at the cereal collection centers and control teams are continuing their work to ensure that harvesting operations comply with safety rules and to identify infringements, the ministry pointed out in the statement.
