The date exports’ revenues for the 2017/2018 season reached a high record of 331.807 million dinars (MD), i.e. up by 22% compared to the previous season (271.727MD).

The quantities of exported dates edged up by 6% since the beginning of the season (October 1, 2017) till February 21, 2018, reaching about 54,519 thousand tonnes, against 51,391 thousand tonnes, according to data provided by the Agriculture, Water Resources and fisheries Ministry.

During the same period, the quantities of exported organic dates reached 6,876 tonnes against 5,263 tonnes in the same period the previous season, that is a 30.6% rise.

This record increase is due, according to the ministry, to the rise in the quantities of exported organic dates and dates exports to Indonesia, Spain, U.S.A and India.

Among the destinations of Tunisian date exports, the Moroccan market is in the lead with 11,931 thousand tones, followed by Italy with 5,477, Indonesia, Spain and France with quantities of about 4 thousand tonnes.
