Date export revenues for the current season (October 1, 2017-April 12, 2018) edged up by 29%, to 512 million dinars (MD) against 397 MD in the past season.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries said in a press release on Friday that the quantities of dates exported since the beginning of the season amounted to 85,500 tons against 75,122 tons, the past season, with a sharp rise of 206% in exports to the Indian market.
This increase was explained by the development of the export rate towards the classical markets like Morocco (16%) and Spain (67%), as well as the increase of the quantities exported to the United States (78%) and Canada (40%).
The same source indicated that for the first time Tunisia exported dates to Bulgaria, supplying it with 256 tons.
