Several world-renowned Italian companies, including car manufacturer FIAT and the textile group “Marzotto”, expressed their will to invest in Tunisia, which is an attractive site for Italian investors, ambassador of Italy in Tunis Lorenzo Fanara announced, during his meeting on Thursday with Minister of Industry and Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises Slim Feriani. “Mazzotto plans to invest in a project that will employ 5 thousand people,” said the diplomat.

For his part, Feriani stressed that Tunisia offers important investment opportunities in several industrial sectors; such as textiles and the automotive components industry. The government has adopted several measures to boost investment, and exports and consolidate promising sectors, the minister added.

He also reviewed the main guidelines adopted to improve the investment climate through the development of legislation and the adoption of several facilitations and incentives to attract investors and allow Tunisia to become an economic hub.

Italy is Tunisia’s second largest trading partner after France and the third largest foreign investor in Tunisia with 469 companies operating in the industrial sector.
