The value of olive oil exports grew 180% since the start of the season until April 30. The average export price rose 12%, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Thursday said in a press release.

The amount of exports reached 1 356 MTD against 484 MTD in the same period in 2017, it said.

The quantities of packaged olive oil exports stood at 8, 967 tonnes in comparison with 7,601 tonnes during the same period in the previous season, that is a 20% rise in quantity and 37% in value.

France and Canada are the first importers of Tunisian packaged olive oil with 26%, followed by the USA (10%), Saudi Arabia (8%), the United Arab Emirates/Brazil (7%), New Zealand (4%), Switzerland/Oman/Japan (2%), and Denmark/Kuwait (1%).

Exported quantities of olive oil in bulk reached 125, 436 tonnes in comparison with 46, 100 tonnes during the same period in the previous season, i.e. a 172% increase in quantity and 210% in value.

Spain and Italy are the first importers (34% each) ahead of of the USA (18%), Portugal (4%), France/Morocco (3%) and Seychelles (1%).
