The revenues of fresh vegetables export edged up 54% from January 1 to May 31, compared to the same period in 2017, reaching 121 million dinars (MD), the Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Ministry said Wednesday in a press release.
The volume of exports towards the European Union countries reached 96MD during this period against 59MD in 2017. As such, exports towards Gulf countries rose by 200%, reaching 15MD.
The revenues of exports to the Netherlands, Tunisia’s leading customer, increased by 150% (36MD), followed by France (35MD) and Italy (22MD).
Revenues of vegetables export to the Qatari market went up 6MD, against 208 thousand dinars in 2017.
According to the agricluture ministry, tomatoe exports rose by 74% to 90MD. Geothermal tomatoes covered 96% of the overall fruit exports, mainly sold to the French and Dutch markets.
