The olive oil exports edged up 180% in value and 154% in quantity from November 1, 2017, to May 30, 2018, compared to the same period last year, according to indicators published, Thursday, by the Ministry of the Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.

The quantities exported reached 154,151 tons worth 1,552 million dinars (MD), against 60,566 tons worth 556 MD, in 2017.

The quantities of exported packaged olive oil amounted to 10,780 tons against 8,631 tons during the same period of the previous season, up 25% in quantity and 42% in value.

Canada is in the lead of the importers of Tunisian packaged olive oil (25%), followed by France (24%), the United States (11%), Saudi Arabia / Brazil (7%), United Arab Emirates (6%), Italy (4%), New Zealand (3%), Switzerland / Oman / Japan (2%), Denmark / Kuwait, Taiwan, Russia (1%) and other countries (3%).

The quantities of exported olive oil in bulk reached 143,850 tons compared with 51,935 tons during the same period of the previous season, a rise of 177% in quantity and 209% in value.

Spain and Italy are the most importing countries with 35% and 33%, respectively, followed by the United States (18%), Portugal (4%), France / Morocco (3%), Saudi Arabia and Seychelles (1%), and other countries (2%).
