Tunisia will play host to the 33rd meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee of Experts of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) October 30-November 2, by virtue of the memorandum of understanding signed on Thursday by Minister of Development, Investment and International Co-operation Zied Ladhari and Director of Office for North Africa of the Economic Commission for Africa Lilia Hachem Naas.

Tunisia will chair this meeting which will be held for the 1st time outside its official headquarters in Morocco and attended by over 150 participants, including representatives of the seven member countries of the Commission from the North Africa region, experts from UN organisations specialised in economic and human development, representatives of civil society and regional and international financial institutions.

The meeting will focus on economic and development issues and the difficulties faced by the commission member countries and African countries in general, including unemployment, illegal migration, foreign trade, control of financial balances, etc.

Ladhari affirmed on the occasion, Tunisia’s willingness to guarantee the necessary conditions for the success of this event.
