Italian group Marzotto is planning to invest nearly 300 million dinars (MD) in a silk production project that will create 5 thousand jobs, said a statement from the Ministry of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises released Tuesday in Tunis.

The project was the focus of a meeting between Minister of Industry and Small Medium Enterprises Slim Feriani and Italian ambassador in Tunis Lorenzo Fanara and a delegation of the group headed by Sergio Tambrini.

The clothing-textile sector has recorded a 25% recovery in the first quarter of 2018, compared to the same period of 2017, the Minister noted, stressing the Ministry’s concern to support investors in this area.

Italian group Marzotto has been operating in Tunisia since the 1990s through its subsidiary, RATTI, which has a production capacity of 3,000 tonnes of linen yarn and nearly 300,000 pieces of clothing. This subsidiary offers nearly 650 jobs.
