UK Foreign Office Minister for Relations with the Middle East and North Africa Alistair Burt underlined the key role which Sfax can play, as an industrial centre and one of the major cities in Tunisia, in boosting trade and technology cooperation with the UK.
“The UK believes we can do more business with Tunisia, ” Burt highlighted.
He voiced appreciation for telemedicine applications developed by the Digital Research Centre of Sfax and their usefulness in monitoring patients during a visit to this centre and other economic structures in the governorate.
Burt, accompanied by British Ambassador to Tunisia Louise de Sousa and President of the Tunisian-British Chamber of Commerce Mehdi Ben Abdallah, was briefed about the activities of Sfax technological pole in relation to research, development and assistance to innovative businesses.
Ben Abdallah called the visit “promising” and said the UK is aware of the importance of Tunisia and its role in Africa.
