From 1 September 2017 to 30 June 2018, the value of olive oil exports increased by 168.31% compared to the same period last year, reaching 1.685 million dinars (MD) said the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Friday in a statement.

Exports of olive oil also rose by 149.53%, registering a 7.54% increase in the average export price compared to the same period of 2017.

During the same period, the quantities exported of olive oil reached 167,436 tonnes, against 67,100 tonnes, during the same period of the last year.

The quantities of olive oil exported in bulk amounted to 155, 522 tonnes, compared to 57, 580 tonnes recorded during the same period of the previous season, an increase of 170% in quantity and 194% in value.

Spain and Italy are the countries that import the most with a distribution of 35% and 33% respectively, followed by the United States (18%) and France / Morocco (3%).

The quantities of packaged olive oil exported amounted to 11, 913 tonnes, compared to 9,520 tonnes, during the same period of the previous season, an increase of 25% in quantity and 42% in value.

Canada ranks first among the importers of Tunisian packaged olive oil (26%), followed by France (25%), the United States (14%), Saudi Arabia (7%), the United Arab Emirates / Brazil (6%), New Zealand (4%) and Switzerland (3%).
