The Tunisian economy has achieved positive indicators during the first half of 2018, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Jihad Azour affirmed Thursday in Carthage.

This is an incentive to all international partners to continue supporting the emerging democratic experience and the economic reform programme in Tunisia, he added as he met President Beji Caid Essebsi.

Azour further expressed the IMF’s confidence in Tunisia’s ability to overcome challenges posed at the internal and external levels, a statement posted on the Presidency of the Republic’s Facebook page reads.

He also commended the strong relations between Tunisia and IMF and the noticeable development of the co-operation in light of the efforts deployed by the country so as to boost the economic growth.

Caid Essebsi affirmed, for his part, that the current difficulties and challenges facing Tunisia can only be met by pursuing efforts aiming to achieve the expected economic growth by creating jobs, protecting disadvantaged categories, developing the youths’ capacities and ensuring the necessary stability so as to attract foreign investments.
