Jordan and Tunisia decided, on Monday, to establish programmes of partnership and exchange of expertise in the field of the rationalisation of energy consumption and the development of renewable energies, in light of Jordan’s will to take advantage of the Tunisian experience in energy management, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mines on its page “facebook”.
This decision was taken at a working meeting that brought together Secretary of State to the Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy Hachmi Hmidi with Secretary General at the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Wealth Amani El Azzem currently visiting Tunisia at the head of a Jordanian delegation.
Both sides reviewed possible opportunities for cooperation between Tunisia and Jordan and between the Tunisian Ministry of Energy and its Jordanian counterpart, particularly in areas related to the rationalisation of energy consumption and energy efficiency and renewable energies, with the Jordanian side expressing will to put into practice the Tunisian experience in terms of energy management.
They have thus planned bilateral visits of the leaders and experts of the two countries, the organisation of joint meetings in order to set up joint projects and programmes in the fields related to energy and technological development in this field as well as the mineral wealth, in the light of existing cooperation with the Gafsa Phosphate Company (GPC) and the Tunisian Chemical Group (GCT) and their Jordanian counterparts.
The Jordanian delegation will meet with several officials of the structures within the Ministry and the companies concerned under its supervision to further examine the programmes that can be carried out within the framework of Tunisian-Jordanian cooperation.
