Vice President of the Tunisian-Chinese Business Council (CATC) stemming from the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts, Douha Mizouni, said there are important opportunities for cooperation with China, particularly the conquest of the Chinese market, with Tunisian products and especially agri-food products.

“The debate that took place today in Beijing, between Tunisian and Chinese businessmen was an opportunity to discuss multiple areas of cooperation in the sectors of energy and renewable energy, finance, mining and trade, “said Mizouni.

As regard the problems that hindered the development of Tunisian-Chinese cooperation in the economic field, the Representative of UTICA considered that the biggest problem was cultural difference. Other issues concern legislation and quality certificates for agri-food products.

She assured in this regard that all of these issues are under study. Both Tunisian and Chinese sides are trying to find solutions to strengthen the marketing of Tunisian products in the Chinese market.

She said that the CATC plans to make known the Chinese market to Tunisian businessmen, through the organisation of visits in coordination with its Chinese partner which is the China World Trade Center.
