China will grant Tunisia a donation worth 110 million dinars (MD) intended to finance development projects in interior regions, said Prime Minister Youssef Chahed following his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday.
In a statement to the press, Chahed also pointed out that an agreement had been reached to speed up the opening of a direct air route between Tunis and Beijing to boost trade and increase the flow of Chinese tourists to Tunisia.
The PM specified that the Chinese president had affirmed the importance of integrating Tunisia among the tourist circuits for Chinese tourists.
It was also agreed during the meeting to diversify the fields of cooperation and export between the two countries as part of the “Belt and Road” initiative, so as to reduce Tunisia’s trade deficit with China.
Chahed also pointed out the possibility for Tunisia to make the most of the investment program dedicated to African countries announced by the Chinese president.
