The Ministry of Industry and Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises and the Human Resources, Sciences and Technologies Committee at the African Union agreed to organise a workshop in December 2018 to devise a strategy for setting up a headquarters of the African Intellectual Property Organisation (OAPI), according to a ministry press release Thursday.

The agreement follows a meeting held on Wednesday between Industry and SME Minister Slim Feriani and Commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology at the African Union Commission Sarah Anyang Agbor, who is currently in an official visit to Tunisia (September 17-20), the same source added.

Agbor, accompanied by a senior AU delegation, paid a visit to the Borj Cedria technological pole and the National Institute of Standardisation and Industrial Property (INNORPI).
